About d.challener

I hate synopsizing myself, because even though I’m 33 I’m still discovering who I am.

It took me four years of college plus another two, to discover I really didn’t want my BS in Advertising, and that the Concentration in Writing was really what burned in me.  It took me eight years to admit I married the wrong person and for the wrong reasons, and  nine years to admit that my feud with my mother was pointless  It took me 17 years to recognize the girl I’d been in love with since high school also loved me.  Only two years ago I discovered the joys, and pains, of being a stepfather.

When it comes to writing I am no different.  Eighty percent of what I read is science-fiction- or science related, but what I write tends to hover between sci-fi, contemporary, and humor.  I’m a male who writes almost exclusively female characters.  And my first novel, which is in the planning stage, breaks each of these trends - being a humorous fantasy novel, with a male protagonist.

I have not yet had the opportunity or courage to write full time, so I will have to scrape out my position as an author while paying the bills with my secret identity as a database administrator.

My contributions to Write Stuff will explore the fight to find the time to write, surrounded by a hectic city, four-usually-great kids, and one hell of a woman.  And in the near future you’ll get to read my pain as I take up the sword in the battle to get published.
