About Andrea

I began writing around ten or eleven when I won 6th place in my very first writing contest and have been writing ever since. I wrote as a hobby and therapy (dealing with divorced parents can be stressful) for the first seven or so years. After I graduated high school, I decided to see if I could make a career out of it.

So far, I have had a few small successes mostly online. A couple of my stories and poems appeared in issues of an e-zine named Runes, which has since shut down. My first published short story in print “Tornado Luck” appeared in an anthology for charity called Stories of Strength and then later in the July issue of Long Story Short. I also have three blogs: Southern Expressions (personal), Finding Me (Fiction) and Ghost Stories (paranormal related). It’s difficult keeping up with three, but not as much as updating like eight.

I began writing Contemporary, but now am starting to get into Horror. Some writers are looking to write that next great American novel but I prefer short stories myself. I know novels lay out the entire story but I think short stories leave quite a bit to your imagination. If you compose it just right, you give your reader everything they need to know with only a few words. I feel honored to be a weekly writer here at Write Stuff and my goal is to help other writers gain the knowledge that was once given to me.
