Short Story Contest Rules

So you want to write a short story, eh? Great! Because we have the perfect contest for you.

The next short story contest begins: TBA

Here’s what you do:

1. Write a short story (PG-rated, please. Anything deemed risque or offensive will not be considered).

2. Word limit is 1,000 words. (If you try and enter a story that is longer than 1,000 words, you will be asked to shorten it or be disqualified. The challenge is to write a rich, full story within 1,000 words. And yes, the admin will be running the stories through a word count program. :) )

3. Post your story to your blog.

4. Only one entry per person, please.

5. Leave the direct link to your entry in the Mr. Linky box which will appear in a sticky post May 2nd.

6. Deadline to enter is 4:00 p.m. central time May 9th.

7. Voting will begin shortly after deadline. (A poll will either appear in the contest post, or a link will be provided).

8. Voting ends 8:00 a.m. central time May 13th. (Which gives you plenty of time to urge your readers to vote for your entry!!)

9. Bloggers/readers/writers are judges.

10. Winner will be announced shortly after 8:00 a.m. central time May 13th.

11. Winner receives a $20.00 gift certificate to Amazon.com as well as have his/her story published on Write Stuff May 17th.

Please note: This is a short story contest which means stories are expected to be error-free, gramatically correct, interesting/compelling and some of your best writing. Our readership is steadily increasing which means you never really know who’s reading your work - please keep it professional.

Any questions, please direct to Karen at [writestuffwriters at yahoo dot com].

Thank you in advance for following the rules and HAVE FUN!
